Trappistes Rochefort 6:
This is a lovely, harmonious dark belgian. Nothing sharp, loud or outlandish about it… it’s just smooth, mellow, and tasty.

Trouble Brewing Dark Arts Porter:
A lovely porter, with just enough chocolate to catch your attention but not overwhelm the beer.

Duvel:
I’m sure this has been on here at some point, but it’s worth revisiting. One of the classics, and luckily available all over. I don’t have it that often since I try as many beers as I can, but when I do it’s like coming home.

Brasserie De L’Abbaye Des Rocs Grand Cru:
Rarely does one see so much yeast in a bottle. Chunky as it may be, it’s actually a pretty rich and tasty beer.

Bavaria Premium:
Pretty typical pils, not much character, but a refreshing reset between more intense brews.

Trappistes Rochefort 8:
Essential tasting, as it’s one of the legit abbey ales, but not among my favorites… it’s hot with alcohol, though perhaps time in the cellar would temper that.

Thwaites Double Century Celebration Ale:

Brouwerij Van Steenberge Piraat Ale:
This is a pretty strong beer, but there are a lot of lovely belgian yeast flavors that mask it (aside from the warming effect) pretty well, making it tasty and dangerously easy to drink.

Brooklyn Brewery Bamboozle Ale:
A very lively belgian pale, which has a lot of tropical fruity notes and yeasty esters. Diggin’ it.

Harp Lager:
The standard in Irish lager. Not a complex or challenging beer, but certainly refreshing on a warm sunny day like today.

Brouwerij Bockor Bellegems Bruin:
A nice oud bruin, with an approachable tartnes and acidity, and one heck of a value for the bottle price.

Tiger Beer:
Cleaner and less skunky than I recall, but perhaps fresher where I had it in Ireland than it is in the US. In any case, it’s not a complex beer, but it is quite refreshing in the right context.

Southern Oregon Brewing Pin-up Porter:
A thick, frothy porter that really focuses on dark chocolate notes. That’s my favorite way for a porter to play out, so I’m totally on board with this one.
